What Do You Wear to Run During Winter?

Even the cold weather is not enough to stifle the passion of a runner. When the weather reaches extremely cold temperatures, indominable men and women still run on the road. However, if you don’t have enough protection, the extreme cold can still damage your body.

Wearing too much when running in the winter makes you tired, and cold if you don’t wear enough? If so, this is the article for you!

Let’s First Talk About Winter Running

How Important Are Winter Sports?

The saying goes “bulk up during winter, lose weight during summer”. During new year festivities, we often suffer weight gains of 3 kg so if you don’t want too many regrets during spring, winter is the time to get moving.

If you run regularly, winter training can effectively improve your performance as it not only trains your body, but also your will. We all have to battle our laziness before going out to run, since lying in your warm bed is a sweet proposition compared to running 10km in the cold and wind. When you’re finally determined to head out for a run, that feeling when a passerby greets you with a loud “good morning” makes life and the world feel much better!

If you agree with the above, then read on

Winter training gives you a better understanding of how to prepare for cold and windy environments, effectively improving your environment adaptability for long distance races. Newcomers to winter running often wear too many layers to avoid the cold but oftentimes end up sick with a cold. If you don’t feel cold when standing still, it means you’re wearing too much and will sweat profusely and feel uncomfortable when running. Here, we suggest that you choose a sport shirt that is “thin and light” with “heat trapping and warming functionality”.

You think that clothing which makes you feel slightly cold before exercising is fine?

Of course not! Your equipment must keep you warm and expel sweat so that you’re still warm when drenched in sweat. Some materials in the market contain these functions, such as T-HOT® heat recycling technology.

What is THot® Heat Recycling Technology?

THot® material warms through heat recycling technology by absorbing heat from the sun and your body, storing it, then converting it into the heat needed by your body. It can effectively balance temperature and effectively increase warmth by 3~5˚C. It’s specifically designed for the cold by trapping 3 times the heat of normal fabrics.

One-way Moisture Control + Lightweight Internal Drying System

If you’ve worn clothing with drying technology, you’ll know that although they absorb sweat and make the entire shirt wet and there is discomfort when wearing the wet sticky shirt on your skin. The feature of one-way moisture control fabric makes it so that the surface of the fabric in contact with your body maintains water resistance (water repelling layer) while the material of the other side is a water attracting fiber (water absorption layer). When sweating, the positive and negative pressure difference of both layers facilitates water absorption to the outside. Simply put, this is similar to women’s menstrual pads where the contact layer maintains dryness.

How Long Does Functionality Last?

THot® differs from standard processed materials as it absorbs nano-grade powders into threads during the textile process. Its’ functionality will not decline with washing or daily maintenance.

Compared to chemical fibers and cotton clothing, THot® fabric contain superior breathability, performance, dries easily, and is comfortable. In the past, athletic clothing pursued long-fiber solutions (durable and do not break easily) but feel coarse. Mixed natural short-fiber textile technology was developed to improve the weaknesses of manmade fibers so that clothing feels more comfortable, flexible, and allows you to move unrestricted.

If you’re a beginner, it’s not as too important in what you choose to wear but always remember one phrase: NEVER WEAR COTTON!

While everyday cotton clothing may fit your body well, manmade fibers or mixed fiber clothing is the optimal choice when exercising. Because polyester contains functions such as quick to dry, traps warmth, is breathable, lightweight, and does not form odors, its’ ability to keep the body dry and comfortable is a key factor.
